HxH (Private Contest) FAQ
The Head to Head Contests
This is where you get to make up your own rules about contests, and choose the players you want to play against. Set up individual contests between only a few of you, or call up any willing contenders to jump in and have a go.
Proposing Your Contest
- Start a new thread and fill in this template:
PLAYERS: player1 vs. player2 ... [make sure you spell all your player names correctly] TITLE: [eg. "Liquid Assets". Keep it short and to the point please] RULES: [should contain all stipulations for the contest] SUBMIT DATE: [pick a date in mm/dd/yyyy format]
VOTING DURATION: [length of time the contest is open for voting, eg. 2 days (*)] STAKES: [eg. bragging rights only (*)]
SPONSORS: [looking/not needed] - Have everyone in the PLAYERS list post in the thread that they're OK with the setup.
- Change the thread title to include "READY FOR SETUP", by using the "edit" link. No changes are made after this point, unless there is a problem.
- Wait for an Admin to set up the HxH.
Who Can Play?
- You need to have entered at least five entries into contests in the topic containing the HxH arena you want to play in.
- You have posted your agreement to all the rules listed in the first post.
- You don't have a HxH ban.
Restrictions on contests:
- No more than 8 players. (*)
- No 18+ or 21+ contests (*)
- No recurring series, or tournaments as HxHs. (*)
Restrictions on entries:
- One entry per person. (*)
- All Arena rules apply. (*)
Changes to the Setup:
- Any change requires all the players to post their OK to the change. Date changes, rule changes, etc. Add "CHANGE REQUESTED" to the thread title when you're done and we'll take a look.
- We can add a player to a HxH, if you ask really nicely, there is room, and there is tons of time left. All the players need to post their OK to the player addition in the setup thread first. Then change the title to include "LINEUP CHANGE REQUESTED".
Problems after Setup:
- Whatever the problem, contact the Admin who set up the HxH via site-message
- If you need to be removed from a HxH, you must site message the HxH Admin with a reason and link to the HxH thread at least 48 hours before the Submit Date. You also need to post in the thread to mention that you're being removed. No guarantees are given.
- If there is a problem with an entry, report it
Mentorship, Critiques and Anonymity:
- You may only ask ONE person, any site member, to critique your entry before the contest, provided they agree to keep your entry anonymous. It is recommended you find a site Mentor for this purpose.
- You are asked to keep your identity a secret in H2H's (two-player HxH's) as much as possible (exceptions are made to self-portrait themes, illustration styles etc.) This is to protect the anonymity of your opponent(s).
Failure to enter:
- If you signed up for a HxH and didn't enter, and you weren't removed by an Admin, you must complete your entry and submit it to the "Complete your HxH Challenge here" thread.
Voting:
- Contestants are free to decide whether they vote or not in a HxH. This can be an individual choice but any agreement made in the contest setup thread should of course be honored.
Admin policies and good-to-know stuff:
- No betting of Credits.
- Everything in this guide marked with a (*) is negotiable if you are polite and have a good reason. Contact the Arena admin privately. Some guidelines:
- You're free to set up to 4 days voting duration. Some contests require longer, talk to us.
- You're free to set any stakes you like that aren't annoying to the community at large. Be specific. Use "Losers" and "Winner". If you want a "Losatar", specify who makes it, what the theme is, and how long it's to be worn (and by whom). We assume "Losers", "In honor of the Winner", and "one week", "by the Losers" if you don't specify. We don't enforce the Stakes, it's an honor system.
- You can create two Teams if you have at least 12 players. You decide the grouping. Make it easy on us, create two templates in your first post.
- In general, you're free to set your own rules. However, the terrorism/Hitler/pornography clichés are non-negotiable. There is a 900-word limit on text. File-sizes and width limits can be lifted if you have a theme like "Panorama" etc. Message the arena admin for prior approval before starting the challenge thread to specify the limits.
- You can set age restrictions. You can have an 18+ contest if you talk to us first and it's been run as an Advanced contest with 18+. New 18+ themes require inter-Admin discussion and take time to approve.
- If you want to run a series or tournament, you need to talk to us privately in advance. Don't start the thread until you hear from us.
- It's the responsibility of Worth's administrators to protect Worth's interests and integrity. We will enforce rules that fall within that scope, regardless of what you state (or don't state) in your set-up request (no adult content, copyright violation, etc.) We welcome your help in doing this, whether you're a participant in the contest or not; if you see something that you think compromises Worth, report it.
- We're here for you.
- Please be considerate to our time and energy. We are here to help you set up your contest because we want to help, not because we have to help.
